Consulting / discovery sprint
Run a structured work audit for a client in days. Deliver the insight that used to take months.
The problem
Discovery engagements are the most time-consuming part of any consulting or advisory project. Consultants spend weeks running interviews, synthesising notes, and producing maps that are already out of date by the time they\'re delivered. Clients pay for the time. The methodology is largely unscalable. And the output — often a slide deck with boxes and arrows — doesn\'t actually give the client something they can use to make ongoing decisions.
How BlobMap helps
- 1BlobMap gives consultants a structured, repeatable methodology for work discovery — a consistent framework that produces comparable, exportable data regardless of the client context.
- 2Contributors self-populate the map, which dramatically reduces the interview burden on the consultant. The tool does the collection. The consultant does the synthesis.
- 3The admin dashboard gives consultants an analytics layer on day one — frequency distributions, time-state breakdowns, blob counts by team and type — without any manual analysis.
- 4The exportable data (CSV and JSON) plugs directly into consultant deliverables, saving hours of manual reformatting.
- 5The visual map view gives clients a compelling, interactive deliverable they can continue to update as an ongoing record of their work.
How a typical engagement runs
Set up the client's insight
Create a BlobMap insight scoped to the function or organisation you're auditing. Configure team assignments and invite the relevant contributors.
Brief contributors
Run a short kick-off (15-20 mins) to explain what a blob is and why honest mapping matters. The quality of the output depends on the quality of input.
Mapping window
Give contributors 5-10 days to populate their blobs. BlobMap works asynchronously — no workshops, no facilitation overhead.
Synthesise in real time
Use the admin dashboard to watch patterns emerge. Flag outliers, gaps, and interesting clusters as they appear — before the mapping window closes.
Deliver structured insights
Use the export function to pull data into your deliverable. The map view provides a visual anchor. The structured data provides the evidence layer.
The outcome
A structured, evidence-based work audit delivered in one to two weeks — not months — with data the client can own, update, and act on long after the engagement ends.
