How we think and build
Six principles that shape every decision we make — on the product, on the team, and with our customers.
Truth over comfort
The most useful thing BlobMap can do is show what's real — even when it's inconvenient. We design for honest data, not flattering data. Leades who use us should expect to be surprised.
Bottom-up always
Insight starts with the people doing the work, not the people managing it. Every design decision we make protects the contributor's voice and resists the urge to filter that voice through hierarchy before it reaches a leader.
Structure enables clarity
Unstructured data produces vague insights. We ask contributors to classify their work — by type, time, size, frequency — not to burden them, but because that structure is what makes the picture comparable, filterable, and actionable.
Speed is not a tradeoff
Traditional work audits take months. We think that's a failure of method, not a law of nature. BlobMap is designed to produce clear, trustworthy insight in days or weeks. Fast and honest are not opposites.
Relationships are the insight
A list of tasks tells you what people do. A map of how those tasks connect — what blocks what, what supports what, what depends on what — tells you how the organisation actually functions. The connections are the point.
Build with, not for
We work closely with the organisations using BlobMap, not just for them. The product is shaped by real engagements, real friction, and real decisions that customers are trying to make. We are not building in a vacuum.
